  5. Hazardous Locations Certificate

    Hazardous Location Testing verifies that a product does not present a risk of explosion when placed into a potentially explosive atmosphere (hazardous location). The testing is performed by evaluating the method of protection applied in the design of the device. The testing process consists of subjecting the device to a potentially explosive atmosphere and attempt to cause a critical failure within the device’s protection system. If a device does not experience a critical failure and meets all additional requirements set forth by the applicable hazardous location standard, the device is considered compliant for use within the tested environment.

  6. SCCR Rating Certification

    In accordance with Article 409 of the 2008 National Electric Code (NFPA 70), requirements for control panels are to be marked with a short-circuit current rating. As specified in the National Electric Code, UL508A-2001 Supplement SB provides an accepted method for determining the short-circuit current rating of the control panel. The SCCR of your application is based on the SCCR for the branch circuit protection device installed in the panel / enclosure per UL50 & UL508a to protect the AC unit. The defaulted SCCR recommendation of all Thermal Edge air conditioners is 5kA.
